Thread: 1/4" Wheel Spacer Recommendations.

    Installed the 1/4" Spacers and went on a test drive. No rubbing!

    With the spacers I got 7.25 turns on the McGard Lugs.
    I will check them when I drive to the track and after each run.

    An engineer told me many years ago that he conducted tests and that the static load was all on the first 1.5 threads. He was very innovative in designing bridges and mid-stream loading equipment.

    So your 305's apparently work well on a 9.5" rim. I thought guys were widening their wheels to 10" on their Marauders. I know the 305's are really designed for 10" wheels. Or am I wrong? I'm thinking of doing this. Any clarification appreciated.

    standard fastener specs are 1.5 times the diameter for thread engagement is ideal. a 1/2 inch stud needs .75 depth of lug nut engagement

    Thanks. I think I will do this. Those spacers pop off easy I assume. I will have a track wheels/tires set and daily driver set.

    I suppose I could just leave the spacers on regardless....

    The MT 3786R P305/45R18 ET Street Radials didn't rub. They stopped making them. The replacements are not suitable for me to drive to the track.

    Only the NITTOs rub.

    I would get the Nitto 555s.

    As far as the spacer and lug nuts, you're not the first to need a spacer, so has anyone had to replace the studs?

    Are the McGard lug nuts really necessary?

    The OEM are a cover over a lug and with use the cover get loose.

    The McGard are a solid piece. I listed them in the event it has a different number of threads due to the spacers.

    The spacers come right off.

    I was not 100% comfortable on the number of turns needed on a stud for a car that is raced. One Web site said 6 turns.

    OEM ~12.5 Turns, W/ .25" Spacer ~7.5 turns.

    I purchased Currie Studs and had them machined. I got ~14.5 turns and so far = good.

    I take it you pulled your axles to R&R the studs? I really DO NOT want to have to undo the work I did on the TruTrac diff to pull those axles out.....

    Gosh darn it! That TruTrac and new 41 spline Ford axles went in do tight, I'll have to cut out the shims to remove them. The 'C' clips had to get set with a drift.
