    High Stall Converter

Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about installing a higher stall speed torque converter and transmission cooler on my Marauder. It’s naturally aspirated , has a tune And 4.10 gears. I don’t race it, and living in greater Atlanta there is a lot of traffic. Just wondering from the guys that have done this mod are you happy with it? How would you describe the acceleration off the line? Is it a dramatic as switching from 3.55 to 4.10 gears? Thanks in advance for your help.

I wouldn't do it...not unless you drag race often.
My high stall converter would definitely let my engine rev before flashing/'hooking up' at the strip.
I got some great 60 foot times, even for an N/A Marauder.
But...On the street, expecially in traffic it was annoying.
Felt like the engine was a dog and was revving too much to get the car moving away from a light.
Everybody next to you thinks that you want to race.

Having said that...I've got a killer Art Carr stall converter for sale

I second that motion. I love the acceleration but it does get a little annoying in traffic. But I don’t live in a big city and it’s not my daily driver so I’m happy with it.

It also makes the lockup features feel weird if you're still in the stall range when lockup is applied. Optimized for WOT drag racing scenarios; not street driving. In my opinion, the stock Marauder converter is about as loose as you can get without being annoying on the street. I've even considered changing it to a crown vic converter.

It's all in the tune. I have had a high stall for 175K.

The only time I notice it is backing up I have to give it extra gas.

What they said^. However if I was NA I don’t think I would have gotten one unless you’re putting it in yourself.

I would go with Circle D Specialist . Suggest a 258 mm 10 1/4 converter for the Marauder. I larger core than some companies. Go with a 3400 stall speed. Get a tune you will be good.

Like a lot of guys here I got a PI 3000 stall in 2004 along with the 4:10’s. Agree it’s not really needed in a daily driver, but with the right tune it’s a fun addition. The times I do want to go all out from a dead stop I’m glad to have it.

Do it, then get the trans tune setup so it wont lock the converter till third gear.
