Last week I took my Marauder (138K Miles) to visit customers in the Atlanta area. On the drive home I noticed a smell of something burning up. It was a cool day so vents seemed normal. Checked under the hood with engine running and all seemed well but did notice a weird grinding like noise. Sprayed some WD 40 on the tensioner and no change.
Next day backed the car down the driveway and put into the garage and had my Tina take a look. She noticed the AC compressor was glowing orange at the clutch!!! Wish it was my 1973 Cougar cause then I could take the belt off and go down the road. Now question is how can I drive it to a shop to get it fixed? I did buy a 80.5" belt to by pass the compressor but this is a PITA!!!! Has anyone else had this happen to them? Any other suggestions on how I can get this car to a shop? Also the AC now seems to have leaked some oil so it has likely lost the sealing of the Freon. Thanks for your suggestions. Dave
