    Advice Requested: Valve Cover

I am replacing the lifters and I just noticed that the rear of the driver's side valve cover is damaged, specifically a chip about an inch long. I can't tell if I did this somehow when removing it or whether it was like this all along from when I bought it from the previous owner. Anyone have any experience with this? How bad is this? I appreciate any feedback.

    Advice Requested: Valve Cover

It’s fine. It’s outside of the gasket and I don’t see the gasket slipping past that small amount. If you’re worried then add just a touch of black RTV and allow it to tack up then properly torque them down.

Or even super glue that part of the gasket to the cover.

Nothing to worry about. The gasket will work exactly as designed, if anything it's just cosmetic damage. You said it's on the back side though so it won't be seen, bolt it up and roll it!
