    Mustang Wheels on a MM???

As observed in the title of this thread....Does the mustang have the same offset and bolt circle as the MM wheels? I am looking for wheels and I was wondering what a good starting measurement would be, since I dont like a whole lot of 18" styles offered for the MM specifically. Has anyone run 19", or 20" wheels with success, and if so, what offset and width? Thanks again for the help.

It's got the same bolt circle but not the same offset. It varies depending on year. The 05 Mustangs have a high offset that might be close to the Marauder though. I have seen several ads that have them at about high 30's and low 40's. I believe the Marauder is around 45-50.

I've been looking at the 2005 Mustang Bullit type wheels (semi-crager SS style), and a company called AFS has them in 18X9 w/ 38mm offset and 18X10 in a 25mm offset, if I remember correctly.....(I may be a mm off).

If that is true, then it seems they would work, but I have to get the wheels off the beast and measure more.

The Marauder would look stunning with Torq-Thrust II's, black chromed, with a red stripe on the edge . Since that is not going to happen, this may be a close second.

That's my idea and opinion, yours may differ.

I believe I read somewhere MM wheels will be an option on '06 Mustangs.

well gents, I am picking up my MM this weekend, and I am currently running 18x10 american racing torq thrustII's on my 96 mustang GT convertible. I will take those off the stang and try and mount them on the MM and take pics and measurements for the better decision making by all of us. I was just wondering if there was someone out there who already handled this issue. I will definitely keep you guys posted.

I believe offset was 42 mm's for the MM. There are some ultralite rims at steeda that look pretty nice too. Torq thrusts would prolly look sweet also. I can picture it now....

Post 3 will show you an 18 x 10 +45mm offset wheel on the back... you can see how much it stuck out. A 25mm wheel would be HORRENDOUS !

There is black Marauder cruising around my area with 17" black torq thrust style wheels. I was rather shocked to see this at first, as I did not think these would fit without sticking out considerably. The wheels on this particular car do stick out far and must have an offset that is close the Marauder wheel.

I do not think the 2005 Mustang can be had with black wheels from the factory. Perhaps these are custom painted or perhaps an aftermarket wheel designed for the 2005 Mustang.

    Red face

Ok, I looked at the pictures, and AzMarauder has a point!

I was focusing on keeping the backspacing "centered", and yeah, 10 inches seems to be very wide. I can see the 18 X8 front and 18X9 rear.

I will leave myself some wiggle room: I did say I had to get the wheels off and measure more .

Anyway, looking at some wheels for the 2005 mustang, they do have "higher" positive offsets, and some aftermarket vendors are making them in 18 inch. Search around and a good combo may come up.

    17" wheels at Karkraft.com

I too have wondered what the 5 spoke torque thrust wheels would look like on a marauder.
My understanding is that the 94-2004 wheels will stick out a little to much, but the 2005+ wheels have a closer offset to our wheels.

Karkraft has a set of (4) 17" X 8" Bullitt Wheels and Tires off a 2005 mustang for 599.95, if anyone is interested.

    Kk

here they are/now $599,95 while they last

    17" X 8" Bullitt Wheels and Tires

    New Take-offs

    less than 5 miles.

$799.95 set of 4. includes wheels, tires & center caps.

*Note: offsets on these wheels are only correct for 2005 Mustangs. These do not fit 1994-2004 correctly.

I put my stock 17x8 cobras on this and they were fine. With about 3" diameter diference in wheel size, it woke it up too, that is similar to a 3.9:1 rear axle if I calced it correctly. There is the ABS thing to deal with though, this was just around the neighborhood.

You may have issues with the lower shock bolt, it will need to be reversed so it pokes inward instead of outward if you use smaller wheels. But you said 18" wheels, they should be alright. In one of these threads i posted a link to 18x10s with 40mm offset IIRC, I think they would be close on the inside top anyway, and that would be fine.

Be aware that offset measurements are meaningless on their own; you want the actual backspacing, and your clearance point looks like the upper part of the shock to me.

And none of the wheel dimensions discussed, explored, or, mentioned in this thread mean dick...Without knowing the size of the tire you intend to mount on them.

I can stuff almost anything in my MM wheel well, but, what fits correctly, is a matter of agreement between wheel dimensions (including offset), the tire mounted on that wheel, and the wheel well space available. Only then, can any of us expect what will fit, and what will not fit.

Suggesting that our MM "offset is meaningless", is careless misdirection. As MM owners, we don't have many choices here, but playing in a field of wheels that offer 50mm to 35mm offset options pretty much guarantee that some wheels can be used on our MMs, but what size tires do we employ?

Depending on what style of driving I'm preparing for, one size of tire seems the best fit. Another is not. Change the style of driving and both may fit. Change to another style of driving and neither will fit.

This thread asks (and answers) only half the fitment question. Remember...The wheels look, but the tires grip. What's more important when merging into high speed traffic?

Any luck on getting pics of Cobra wheels on your MM? I'm going to put Bullitt wheels ('01-'04) on mine.

Call 1-800-FORD-788 and press "1". Have the last 6 of your VIN handy. You will get the numbers for FREE. You'll pay $$$ for the certificate.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.
