The heating elements will fail with age, miles, heavy driver etc.. My drivers element died about a year after getting the car. Ford still sells the elements or you can get a Dorman kit instead

    Here I'll help you out........................

See if there is power at the connector under the seat. If there is power then the heating element may be bad. If there is no power then check if there is power to the switch and going to the seat. If there is no power to the switch then check the fuses / relays, if there is no power on the other side of the switch then the switch is suspect.

My driver's seat doesn't seem to be putting out any heat either. I had it to a shop today and they pulled the seat.

The verdict was:"The switch and seat module are working correctly. The seat element checks within specs but is not putting out much heat". Both sides were checked with a heat gun and were about 80 degrees F. When I sit in the passenger seat, heat is much more noticeable. There are elements in both the seat bottom and back, correct? A couple of years ago I did have an upholstery repair on the driver's seat to fix where it tears around the buckle insert.

    Any thoughts? Thanks.

Just to chime in because I am curious about this also, my heated seats went about a year ago. The button still lights up when pressed but no heat present I'm sure the dealership has a hefty price tag for this one. What are our options ?

Heating elements go bad, if you have low heat, I would suspect the element itself, not turning on is a completely different issue.

That said, I bought a stack of those elements from a members estate sale a couple years back.

Not to derail this thread, but has anyone experienced overheating from their heated seats? Like almost burning your butt hot?

What would be the culprit here?

My DS heat doesn't work as well as it did when new. As stated previously the heating elements age with use and become less efficient / effective over time and use. This summer I'm going to try and retrofit aftermarket carbon fiber pads into the front seats and add them to the back seat(s). Looking for a set that has rectangular switches as I don't like the round ones. Will also look at adding a heated pad to the center position of the rear seat with the switch in the back of the center console.
