    should i sell???

    Hello everybody...I have a DTR '04 Marauder...second owner...25,000 miles...garage queen...never been in rain since I have owned it the last four years...have done some improvements to it...k & n air intake...custom decals...optima yellow top...delete resonators in exhaust

My wife has Parkinson's Disease and so money is rather tight now...
I would like to get some thoughts about whether to keep the car to see if the value increases over the years...or should I sell it now...probably for some $ in the $20K range...

Love the car and love driving it in the Texas hill country but...sure could use the $ to pay for health care, ect.

What you you club members think...

    Thanks for the thoughts.

Very sorry to read this, saying a prayer for your wife...
Just my opinion but my MIL law is in long term care at $13,000 per mo....so the DTR would pay for 45 days....Id contact an attorney who specializes in eldercare to allow Medicaid to cover costs while shielding assets of the spouse. Then you can keep the car. Might not get $20k anyway and no these cars aren't investments they are toys or money pits...

It's not an investment. It's a toy. If you enjoy playing with it keep it.

If not sell and spend the money where it best meets your needs.

Positive thoughts of healing and prayers to your family.

Agree with above. As a Doctor, this must seem counterintuitive to think you must protect yourself financially from illness, but sadly this is where we are. While Only you can decide where value lies in your possessions, and which ones you list to liquidate, I'd bet the car isn't first on your list.

If you could capture $16M-$18Mright now ($20M seems a tad high) it would be spent/depleted in a short time span.

Don't know what your wife's level of affection was for the MM, but I'd suggest you pick at least one thing/project/activity you really like/love (in this example driving the MM or maybe golf?) and try to do this one activity for 30 min or an hour a week to keep you whole... So you can better be there for her the remaining hours of the week.

I've kept (at great personal expense) my deceased son's black MM... And the few hours per month I wax it and drive it are priceless hours I spend with him. I sometimes even say "Hi" to him when I walk through the garage.

Again, only you can decide where importance lies in "things" and while they are only "things" if they can bring you comfort, solice, and happy thoughts in the future I'd try to hang onto them.

Prayers and blessings to your family. Many a member has regretted selling their Marauder
In a similar situation I would keep it as it provides tremendous pleasure which I can share with family and strangers. You could get it appraised and maybe get a loan against it esp if it’s in great shape. Personally it’s the last item I would sell and my wife supports me.
God bless and be at peace whatever you decide.

This is worth more than any money you would get for selling
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

You may find a loving buyer that will baby it and give you first dibs at buying her back. My condolences for your ailing wife.
