    EATC Issue

Having an issue with my heat/ac climate control unit

It blows just a bit of heat but car must be running and moving(air only comes through vent)
Defroster doesn't seem to be working or any other modes
I ran the self test a few times and no errors came back

Is this an o-ring issue or something else?

    Thanks

Could be an o-ring issue, but sounds more like an Air Blend Door Actuator issue. Fastblackmerc is an expert in these issues. He has a whole thread dedicated to this:

You may be low on coolant if it's blowing hot, you come to a stop, then starts blowing cool after a few minutes sitting still at a light

If you never touch buttons and start driving and the heat comes back, I'd add coolant to the coolant cross over tube

If you haven't done the red 007 o rings yet, you should try it and see if they fix your air direction

No codes should mean no blend door actuator issue, turn the radio off, key on engine off and scroll from hot to cold, fan speed at the lowest setting

Do you hear and clicking or clunking while the door sweeps from hot to cold?

That sounds like the blower isn't blowing.

I had the air blend door actuator issue repaired about 11 months ago.

I can hear the actuator door clicking, should I send in the unit for o-ring repair?

If so, I recall a member doing this on here...Bad timing with cold weather and no heat

If you hear clicking the blend door actuator is stripped again, you shouldn't get a clicking noise, that's why you don't have heat

Pull the air bag leave it plugged in, glove box and vent tube. Then you can manually rotate the actuator by hand or watch it as it's not working or is working

Pulling the actuator out is a pain, doing as I described above will only take about a hour and you should gain heat

Fastblackmerc here can do the o rings for you

Since you effectively have no heat now, sending the EATC to FBM will get you great customer service, but you need to be sure that's the issue, first.

Remove the EATC head unit and unplug the vacuum connector on the back. Jumper the black tube to the red, yellow, and blue tubes (one at a time) and see if the functions work then. If so, you may need the o-rings replaced.

Red is floor, yellow is defrost, and blue is panel vents.

Well I'm not that mechanically inclined, so what other options are available that wont damage my pockets too much?

    I've reached out to FBM.

Removing the head unit is simple...just pull off (literally pull, no tools needed) the trim, and you'll see the 4 screws holding it in. Pull the unit straight out and you'll see the vacuum connector with all the rainbow colours. I think there's one screw holding it. You're going to have to do at least that much to send the unit to FBM. The hardest part of jumping the black line to the others is finding a suitable hose or tube to use...

Or ask a more mechanically-inclined buddy...or the local voc-tech school...

If the blend door actuator is clicking it's on it's way out. Was it replaced? If so what brand was used?

    Do they provide any lube?!?!?!?!?

As mentioned the genuine Ford part is about $75.00 and maybe an hours worth of labor.

Up for a road trip this week? Drive down to the Raleigh, N.C. area and I'll install a repaired one for $150.00.

Might take you up on that offer, I'm in the DC area. Might as well get the o rings upgraded as well.
