    16x7.5 Rim-Tire Suggestions

    What's the tallest/widest size tire that's usable on a pre-2003 16x7.5 rim? I have a set I'd like to mount for
    snow or maybe all-season usage.
    Appreciate any suggestions

The wheel rims are from a 2001 merc grand marquis. Intention is to mount them on a '04 merc marauder.

Regardless of tire size you will need 1½" - 2" hub-centric wheel adapters for the rims to fit.

HINT: The rim offset was changed beginning in 2003 on the Panther platform vehicles.

As for tire size ... Keep within 10% of the Marauder's tire diameter (27¼" - front, 28½" - rear) to minimize speedo' reading differences, traction control issues, etc..

The axles are wider, the front frame is different on 03, you can't use pre 03 wheels on a 03+..They have different offsets, they will stick out past fender.

gDMJoe is thinking using a 03+ wheel on a pre 03 car must use spacers.

Do not put pre 03 wheels on a 03+ Maraduer

This is incorrect , you need spacers when installing 03 panther wheels on a pre 03 model , not the other way around , as mentioned the pre 03 wheels will stick out well past the fender wells on an 03 and up.
