Question Sewing machine under the hood

I got a noise under the hood of my MM, So I had a good friend Of mine that works at a local police Depot as a tech give the MM a look over. He inspect and give me his opinion on the sewing machine noise under the hood.. he believes is a valve noise to be common on the Modular engines mentioned a TSB dedicated to this noise.. but with all the talk here in the forums about timing chain noise I made a little video and ask if you could please watch listen and let me know if this is the timing chain tensioner..

    Your help is greatly appreciated..

Definitely not normal. It's not the common fuel injector clicking sound. Can you localise the sound to one bank or the other or is it in the front of the motor?

I hear the common injector noise, but also hear the more erratic tic/knock sound which is concerning. Don't think it's the timing chains.

To add more information this noise is really only heard when engine is cold, or at rpm drop off. Once the engine reaches operating temp you can't hear anything at idle..

So I hear a lash adjuster noise. It's the part right under the rocker...
Once the valve cover is off, only a rag and screw driver is needed

Here is a video. How too:

I just did oil change last week with castrol 5w-20 and a Motorcraft filter with a EFI service when i installed the JLT Intake. Trying to get the vehicle smogged today after work. I've been told to add some Lucas Oil Treatment to see if the noise would change plus its burning oil. Cant estimate how much yet, but i can see it at start up.

I cant really comment of any loss of power since i just got the car 3 weeks ago, but just on what i've done so far to it, i noticed a good change in driveability and performance

I tend to hear it more on the right bank more towards the top center (intake manifold area)

smoke at start up after sitting is pretty common, even among the mustangs dohc of those years. could be number 8 valve as there is poor circulation in the driver head at number 8 cyl. there is a head cooling mod to help prevent this, but won't fix it if already damaged. car would be running on 7 cyl. and is noticeable if number 8 has no compression.

Thanks to Marty O for his help in updating this car.

Then it's likely not the timing chain guides.

How many miles? Mine had 170000kms , about 110000miles and sounded similar when I bought it. Was the passenger side composite chain tensioner. Replaced both tensioners and good now.

Mine started that noise at 40k miles. Diesel oil cured it. 218k and counting.
