13 codes and only have 2nd gear...

My 2004 ran fine yesterday, but ran rough when I started it today. Check engine light came on immediately at start up and the OD light started flashing. Noted a very faint whine noise at idle and driving. Drove down the road and car started out in 2nd gear and that's where it stays. No slipping. Shifter position does not matter.

I scanned for codes and found a long list...

    P0403 - EGR

    P2197 - O2 sensor stuck lean bank 2...

    P2195 - O2 sensor stuck lean bank 1...

    P0161 - O2 circuit malfunction bank 2...

    P0155 - O2 heater circuit malfunction bank 1...

    P0141 - O2 heater circuit malfunction bank 1...
    P0135 - O2 heater circuit malfunction bank 2...

P0446 - Evap vent control circuit voltage

    P0443 - purge control malfunction

P1747 - transmission electronic control solenoid

    P0755 - shift solenoid B malfunction

    P0750 - shift solenoid A malfunction

    P0743 - torque converter solenoid

I have a feeling these components are not bad, and did not all fail at once, but wondering if the part of the computer that controls them has a problem.

Any ideas on what to check? Thanks for any help!!!

Could be a harness issue. Good luck!

I agree... harness issue. double check the black and grey connectors at the back of the engine. Also inspect the body and engine grounds.

I think I found the problem. When checking fuses, the PCM fuse was very easy to remove and the others fit snug and I needed a tool to pull them. I took a strand a wire and inserted it in each of the two slots before re-installing the fuse. I need to try and move the "tabs" in the fuse box so they make solid contact again.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions and help!

Glad that fixed it, you’ll need to get that sorted or you will have a “thermal” issue.
