    1973 Ranchero frame??

    anyone know for sure if the Ranchero frame is the same as a sedan, or a station wagon, or unique??

    read this thread, sounds like 1973 ranchero = 1973 gran torino station wagon...but 1972's are different than 1973's. need to look at Ford master parts catalog or a 1973 tech service manual...

    J.P. - The 1972 Torino wagon (type code 71) and 1972 Ranchero (Type code 97) share the same Frame - Ford P/N D20Z-5005-C. Not sure if any interchange on later model years. This info come from the 1972 edition of the Ford Master Parts catalog, so I gotta think it is valid info - Hope this helps - Ed

    I doubt the frame from this Ranchero would work:

    After reviewing the answers, looks like Agent2006 has a very plausible answer and the frame part number looks correct for the vintage.
    2004 SB #2150 of 3214 Moonroof, Heated Seats and 6 CD Changer. Non OEM Mufflers and 32,XXX miles and counting.

    Thnx all. Quite the contraption on the extended blue Ranchero. Not my style.

    I have seen a Ranchero sitting on a 4x4 frame, not bad.
